Subject :- Mode of payment of application fee under the Right to Information Act, 2005
Attention is drawn to the provision of Section 6 (1) of the Right to Information Act,’ 05 read with rule 3, 4 and 5 of the Right to Information (Regulation of Fees and Cost) Rules, 2005 as amended by DoPT’s Notification No. 34012/8(S)/2005-Estt. (B) DATED 17/05/2006 published in Gazette of India Extraordinary [GSR 294 (E) ] dated 18-05-2006 duly circulated under Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue’s Circular No. 28/02/2006 vide F.No. 12/36/2006-Coord dated 28/06/2006, according to which any person intending to obtain information from any Public Information Officer (PIO) is required to pay prescribed application fee by way of cash against proper receipt or by demand draft or banker’s cheque or Indian Postal Order payable to the Accounts Officer of that public authority.
It is being hereby notified that the prescribed application fee by demand draft or banker’s cheque or Indian Postal Order in respect of the application filed in this Commissionerate under this Act should be payable to the “Assistant Chief Accounts Officer, Central Excise & Customs, Surat-I Commissionerate”.
